The Department of Political Science came into being in 1958 when the college was established.The Department, at present, has 4 (four) regular and 2(two) part-time teachers.The Department offers both B.A. Pass and Honours Courses affiliated to Manipur University.

1.OBJECTIVES:

  • To foster political consciousness among the young students of the state so that they could become responsible citizens of the nation.
  • To teach modern trends in Political Theory, Political Thought, Indian Political System, Inter national Relations etc., for the benefits of the students.
  • To inculcate the  rich political and cultural heritage of Manipur, North East and the Nation at large.

RECENT ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT:
   
    1.The Departments of Political Science and Economics in collaboration with Department of Economics, Manipur University organised A Two Day National Seminar on”Present Conditions of Political Economy of States in North East India” 2-3 March 2012 sponsored by UGC. Dr. N. Somorendro Singh, Asst. Professor, Department of Political Science was the Organising Secretary of the Seminar.
   
    2. S. Benjamin Nattar, Associate Professor Department of Political Science presented a paper on “Education Sector and Political Economy: Manipur Perspective” in the Seminar.
   
    3.Dr. N. Somorendro Singh, Asst. Professor, Department of Political Science presented a paper on “India-Bangladesh Relations Since 1990s: Need for More Expansion” in Two Day JAIR INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE held at Manipur University on 17-18 August, 2012.
   
    4.S. Benjamin Nattar, Associate Professor Department of Political Science presented a paper on “Indigenous Resource Management and Ethnicity Politics in the Age of Globalisation with reference to Manipur” in a Three Day National Seminar organised by North  East Centre for Culture, Guwahati, Assam on 16-18 November, 2012.
